Are you aware of your bad eating habits?

We’re not talking about what time you have breakfast every morning, or if Friday nights are ‘pizza nights’. We’re referring to the things that you crave when you’re feeling down or anxious. Many of these habits can lead to unhealthy foods, excess eating and, ultimately, inadvertent weight gain. Bad habits are usually to blame when you realize you’ve put on weight but can’t remember eating excessively.

Many of these habits can lead to unhealthy foods, excess eating and, ultimately, inadvertent weight gain.

In order to be more aware of what we eat it can be useful to keep a ‘food journal’ of sorts, in which we can write down anything from feelings, to foods and situations. Although it might seem like something burdensome and tedious, with just a few weekly entries you will start seeing considerable benefits.
The most common bad habits that lead to weight are:

-Eating when you’re not hungry.

-Eating too fast.

-Finishing everything on your plate.

-Eating while standing up.

-Skipping meals.

-Sweets.

Pause for a moment and ask yourself if you’ve developed any of these bad habits, and if so, why? How did you feel? Tired? Stressed? Bored? Were you watching TV? The first step to get rid of these habits is to recognize them, and then to find out what is triggering them.
Keeping a small diary will help you go over what you ate, and how you felt each day.
