If you’re keeping a ‘food diary’ on your phone or a notepad you probably already recognize some of these bad eating habits. The next step is to find out the cause. Often, it’s a certain feeling or situation, for instance:

Eating in front of the TV.

A meeting or presentation.

Having access to sweets or vending machines.

Boredom.

Walking past a store window full of pastries.

Watching the game.

2×1 or 3×2 deals…

These are a just a few examples, there are many more, only you can recognize what yours are. Once you’ve identified them, write them down and think about how you’re going to deal with them. Some will be easy to handle, like altering your way back home to avoid that tempting pastry shop or getting rid of those sweets on your office desk.

Other triggers won’t be as easy to avoid, however. The answer to these lies in looking for good habits that will replace the bad ones.
